The mulian
"MULIAN" is an independent hotel brand under the Hong Kong-listed real estate developer KWG Group. It embodies the designer’s philosophical reflection on urban life and KWG’s "slow contemplation" of modern city rhythms. During the brand’s incubation, inspiration struck in Guangzhou when a bonsai captivated the designer—its miniature landscape and serene pavilions radiated Zen tranquility. "How wonderful if I could retreat to these peaceful mountains and waters before returning to urban bustle," the designer mused. Thus, "庄" (manor) was conceived.
The manglietia flower (mù lián) not only enchants with its beauty but carries the symbolic meaning of "awaiting and recharging." The brand aims to offer urban dwellers a sanctuary amidst the city’s chaos—a place to pause, unwind, and rejuvenate. This vision unveiled the story of MULIAN in Guangzhou.
